It is believed that the sharpness of the leaves of holly help to recall the crown of thorns worn by Jesus, and the red berries serve as a reminder of the drops of blood that were shed for salvation.
The most well known and customary varieties for Christmas are red, green, gold and silver, yet that doesn't imply that you need to decorate your tree along these lines.
