Easy Ways to Getting Rid of Clutter at Home

We can't avoid clutter, but too much of it can be really annoying and unsightly. We would want to get rid of it as fast as possible. So, we will be discussing some great tips on how to rid of clutter quick.

Pile It Up

Empty your wardrobe, your cabinet or your end table. Pile the clutter up in one place. Similar items should go together. As you pile your things up, organize them -- fold the clothes, flatten the crumpled papers, put back the misplaced caps, place the magazines on top of each other and so on. This will make the work easier.

Categorize Them

Divide your things into four major categories :

1. To Keep

These are the things that you definitely need like your perfectly working cellphone or your work clothes. On deciding which things to keep, remember that it's always better to save what you have than to spend for a new one.

The dilemma over what you need and what you want might confuse you and even tempt you to not let go of the clutter. The key is to keep your eye simple.

Ask yourself: Do I really need this? Do I see myself using this after a week, a month, or a year?

2. To Trash

These are the things that you no longer need or want. They can no longer be recycled or be used as gift, and should go to the trash bin.

3. To Recycle

These are the things that you no longer need or want, and are not good choices for a gift. Examples are receipts from a supermarket, newspaper, doodle books that are already filled with nonsense, plastic bottles, broken and far-from-repair devices and appliances, and scrap textile. Remember to keep our environment green.

4. To Give Away

These are the things that you no longer need or want, but can be used as gift. Examples are used shoes, clothes, bags, accessories, and old magazines.

Categorize the things you decided to keep into:

1. Frequently Used

These are the things that you use in a daily basis. Examples are your usual and preferred outfit at school or at work, tools like your comb and mirror, and devices like your cellphone.

2. Less Frequently Used

These are the things you use in a weekly or monthly basis. Examples are car or house repair tools and clothes that are only used for special occasions.

Organize and Finalize

After you're done classifying your things, put them into their appropriate location. Buy organizing boxes for small items like buttons, nails and beads. If there is no longer enough space for the books that you need, buy bookends. Arrange big items in re-purposed boxes.

5 Things to Consider Before Resigning from Your Job

It is a common situation that you may find yourself fed up with your job and contemplate to resign. This is after you have tried all other options available and find out that the only option for you is to write a resignation letter.

This is not an easy situation especially if you are an employee whose the only source of income is your job. You need to ensure that you have taken your time to make sure that you take a well informed decision by considering the following factors.

Why do you want to resign?

Identifying why you want to resign can help you get other options to leaving your job and resolve the problem without having to find another job.

If it is your duties, you can work out with your manager and raise the issues you have in order to be given other roles that you feel comfortable with.

Other reasons may include dissatisfaction of the business system of the current working environment where you are in and imbalance work and social life.

In overall, ensure that you explore all the avenues available before taking the final decision to quit.

Do you have other source of income?

Before you make the final decision to quit your job, it is advisable that you consider whether you have something else to do after resigning.

This is an important question in order to warrant that you do not suffer financially after resigning from your job. If there is another job waiting, then you can comfortably resign from your job, but if you do not, then take care before you call it quit.

In that you do not have job offer from other company, check whether your business or investments of you any can sustain your basic needs during the transition.

Do you possess enough experience to resign?

If you want to resign from your job, then you search for another. Have you carried out enough research into the kind and length of experience that your desired job requires?

If you find that you do not have the required experience to market yourself effectively for a new job, resigning from your current job may not be the best option for you.

It is good to consider whether you would stand staying in your job for a few more months to ensure you get the extra experience, so that you become more marketable for another job.

On the other hand, if your experience is not intended for a new job under different company, is it enough to be used for your own start-up business?

Robert Kiyosaki, the author of a best-selling book, Rich Dad Poor Dad, teaches us not work for money but to gain experience.

Is this addressed in your contract?

In case you are resigning due to job dissatisfaction or other issues emanating from your workplace you need to consider whether this is addressed in your job agreement.

Note that there are some jobs that you will be required to give three to five months notice before resigning. If this is the case with your job, ensure that you do so to avoid legal cases that may end up costing you much.

It is also very important to bear in mind that you should never mess up with your boss before you leave even if you have hard feelings with him. Just leave your job professionally and peacefully because you do not know what the future holds—your boss might be one of your clients later on.

Have you planned for the changes?

Resigning from your job will definitely bring a lot of changes in your life, which you have to be prepared to handle.

This, you must ensure that you consider all the changes that may result and come up with ways to handle them prior to resigning. This will help avoid stress or other problem that may arise in your family or your own personal life.

Talk to your family about the possible situation that your whole  family may experience during the transition. Don't forget to check the changes in your budget.

 Bottom line

The main rule before you resign from a job is to ensure that you will be more secure and happier in the next step you want to take in life. If you have doubts on what will happen after you resign, take your time before you make this decision.

Color Harmony of Outfit for Different Occasions

When mixing and harmonizing your clad for different occasions, you will need to consider color very carefully.  This is because colors give different messages, and as usual different occasions need different types of colors to convey their meaning.

It is not right to just choose any color because you think they appear good on you. Reflecting on your outfit color harmony is essential, more especially when attending significant functions.

Below are few ideas on how you can do it:

Job Interview

The solidness of maroon, navy blue or brown is useful core colors in any suit. However, with a touch color of cream in an accessory or a shirt, this will surely present an image of dependability and reliability. Moreover, a combination of pin, cream and purple is most suited for an interview in advertising, retail and sales work.

Court

The defensive, hard-edged combination of black and red or yellow and black will help you keep at bay gauche questioning and various challenges of the courtroom. Most of these colors are warm too, hence they will help you create dynamic harmony on your suit.

Weddings

Pastel colors draw out emotions in people, and lilac helps to give balance to these emotions. Hence, mid-range colors like viridian, lavender, coral-pink and cobalt-blue befit such an emotionally filled occasion.

Family Reunions and Birthdays

A happy function with many guests should be filled with solid but beautiful colors. Wearing a combination of violet, apricot, pink, mauve or imperial purple would best fit a vibrant birthday party.

Apple-green, pale pink and apricot will also aid nurture and cool a family meeting and encourage great communication among family members. This is mostly known as the power of colors.

Public Speaking

If you wish to speak before an audience, aim for colors that will engage your spectators, not to distract them. Core colors like navy blue, maroon and deep purple exude a sense of authority. Hence, you should keep away from them completely. Try black and red and then refurbish it with matching jewelry and accessories.

Christenings and Funerals

Funerals are filled with sadness and sorrows. To ease the session, an outfit color harmony of violet, maroon, silver, apple-green and butter-cup yellow will help lift up the spirits of everyone present. For christening, a blend of silver and purple will also help to boost the atmosphere and generate a spiritual function.

Conclusion

Picking colors that go well simultaneously is an art and a science. This is because the main goal to putting together different colors is to produce harmony, and harmony is something gratifying to the eye. It connects the viewer and builds an inner sense of balance and order in the visual experience. When outfit color harmony is not there, the outfit is either chaotic or boring.

Thus, when shopping for color, always keep in mind that the colors you put on communicate different messages to others. In turn, it prompts a response, which is what everyone desires.

Besides this, consider colors that suit your particular skin tone and hair. You should also consider colors that match with seasonal changes. For instance, winter colors are sharp, stark and clear and summer colors should be pastels, muted colors and soft neutrals.

Does Your Company Pass These 10 Deadly Marketing Sins?

From mere selling, Philip Kotler has broadened the concept of marketing to a more general process of communication and exchange.

He also emphasized that marketing can be applied as well to non-commercial situations, causes, ideas, persons, and places aside from its sole commercial purpose of selling products, services, and experience.

Out of his many and known ideas about marketing, we have here ten marketing mistake that companies should avoid to become successful in their marketing efforts based on his ‘ten deadly marketing sins’.

1. Insufficiently market-focused and customer-driven.

It is suggested instead that the company needs to segment the market, choose the best segments, and develops a strong position in each chosen segment. By having a well-focused market, the company can easily identify and meet the needs of its customers.

2. Does not fully understand the target market.

Having a well-focused market is not enough. The company needs also to understand its target market. It is advised the company have to maps its customers’ needs, perceptions, preference, and behaviors, and motivates its stakeholders to obsess about serving and satisfying the customers.

3. Not well defined and monitored competitors.

The company have to identify its major competitors and their strength and weaknesses. By doing this, the company can craft necessary steps on how to position itself from its competitors. This can also be a good basis to improve the offerings of the company.

4. Poorly manages relationship with stakeholders.

According to businessdictionary.com, some examples of key stakeholders are creditors, directors, employees, government, owners, suppliers, unions, and the community from which the business draws its resources.  The company needs to build partnership out of its stakeholders and generously rewards them.

5. Inefficient at finding new opportunities.

Every day is and opportunity, and opportunity is everywhere. Film actor Kyle Chandler once say that opportunity does not knock, it represents itself when you beat down the door. Thus, it is good for the company to develop systems for identifying opportunities, ranking them, and choosing the best ones.

 6. Deficient Marketing plans and planning processes.

One of the popular line of Benjamin Franklin is “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.” This is also applicable to the marketing aspect of the company. As suggested, the company must manage a marketing planning system that leads to insightful long-term and short-term plans. These plan will serve as marketing blue print of the company.

7. Products and services policies need tightening.

Products and services policy is a broad guidelines related to the production and development of a product or service. It also includes a strategic rule how a product or service is promoted to potential consumers.

Experts say that the company needs to exercise strong control over its products and service mix.

8. Weak brand building and communication skills.

Brand building is one of most complex process in the field of business because it is not only about the company logo, slogan, or stationery. It must always accompanied with strong communication skills to make it more effective.

It is advised that the company have to build strong brands by using the most cost effective communication and promotion tools.

9. Not well-organised to carry on effective and efficient marketing.

Implementation of plans is important to bring it into reality and right people are necessary to make it happen. The company should build marketing leadership and a team spirit among its various departments, and everyone must work together to achieve the common goals.

10. Not made maximum use of technology.

In a simple and common definition, technology refers to tools and machines that may be used to solve real-world problems. According to Richard Branson, the employees can provide better experience to customers if you give them the right tools.  Constantly adding technology that gives the company a competitive advantage in the marketplace is very important action to take.

Those are the ten marketing points that are inspired by the popular American Author, Marketing Professor and Consultant, Philip Kotler.

The Boomerangs and the Three Hunters

(This post won the 1st Runner Up award during the Pinoy Expats/OFW Blog Awards 2011, OFW Bloggers Division with the  theme is “Ako’y Magbabalik, Hatid Ko’y Pagbabago.” (I will Return, I Will Bring Change.)

Before the three hunters left the village for hunting, they have had a chance to meet together. The First Hunter proudly said, “When I come back, my family and friends will surely be happy to dine with me. They will enjoy the fruits of my labor.”

The Second Hunter bragged, “I borrowed money with 15% interest from my neighbor to buy my hunting tools, plus, I learned Kung Fu when I was young so I will let those animals in the forest taste my hunting skills of fury.” “Wheeee! Di nga?” the Third Hunter replied.

The Quest of First Hunter

When the first hunter came into the field, he strung up the net between trees, prepared his cage, put his bow and arrow on his shoulder and grasped his decoy, the boomerang, and threw it forward. Whoosh!

The boomerang swiveled through the woods and the scared birds nesting on the trees flew and were trapped on the net, but the only small birds were trapped because net was loosely strung and had given up when the wild chicken stuck it. “Putak-putak! Put-put-putak! Put-putak!,” the wild hens sounded while flying away.

(Read the next sentence fast and make it faster to the last phrase.)

The hunter quickly grabbed his bow and arrow, briskly stood upright with two feet apart, nocked an arrow onto the bowstring, pushed his bow arm, pulled the bow string to his face, aimed for the escaping wild chicken then released the bowstring. Whip! One chicken was hit and other had successfully escaped.  When the boomerang returned, the hunter  wasn't able to catch it properly causing it to hit his hand. Pok! Ouch!

The hunter set up again his net, tighly strung at this time, and waited for few hours for the birds and wild chickens to come back. Tik! Tak! Tik! Tak! Tik Tak! After few hours of patience, the birds came.

The hunter throw his boomerang for the second time to decoy the birds to his net. Gotcha! Two wild chickens, a hen and a roster, were trapped. Now when the boomerang returned, the hunter had caught the it properly and avoided the painful wing strikes based on his experience on the first throw.

He got chicken from the trap and put them into the cage. The night came so the hunter went home, cook all what he had gotten from hunting and called his family and friends for dinner.

The Quest of Second Hunter

The second hunter did not bring a cage and bow and arrows when he went to the field. Eeewww! He only brought a net and his boomerang.  He was very excited to throw his made-in-Japan fibre-reinforced plastic boomerang. (Sound of sarcastically amazed crowd) Whoahhh!

After he had strung the net between the trees, he stood-still for a moment. After awhile, he hold his boomerang firmly but gently, curled his wrist slightly back towards his body then he  threw the boomerang like a flying disc. Swoosh! The boomerang turn upward abruptly, soar up high and quickly spun down again then struck his net. The net was damaged. He picked his boomerang up and left the net.

“Buk! Buk! Buk! Putak! Putak! Putak!,” a laying wild chicken flew from few steps away from where he stood. When he check the nest, there were five eggs so he took them.

For the second time,  he threw the boomerang aiming the birds on the twigs of a tree above him but boomerang hit on a branch and bounced it back to his head. Pak! His forehead bleed. He tore a part of his shirt and wrap it around his head to stop bleeding.

It was still early but he need to go home because of his injury. When he arrived home, his wife borrowed some medicine from their neighbor and nursed him, cook what he had gotten and they eat their dinner.

The Quest of Third Hunter

The third hunter came to field. The same with the first hunter, he did brought a cage, bow and arrows, net and boomerang.

He also experienced painful wing strikes during the first throw. His net were also loosely strung at the first time. He also use his bow and arrow to capture the escaping wild chicken. He also had gotten some small birds, a killed chicken, an alive hen and an alive rooster. In short, he also experienced what the first hunter had experienced in the field.

But when he went home,  he asked his wife to cook the killed chicken for dinner, ordered his children to preserve the small birds for next days’meals and keep the wild hen and rooster into his small poultry house for raising.

The Questions for You

What kind of change each hunter would give to their respective family after few days?

What are the significance of the boomerang? The birds and chickens? The net, cage and bow and arrows?

How do you relate the life of OFWs with the story?

Which kind of hunter are you and which kind of hunter you would prefer to be?

Would you mind to post you answers as comment?

How to Leverage Your Time and Resources

If school should have taught you anything, it should have been that time is fixed and it is limited. There are 60 seconds per minute, and 24 hours per day.

You probably also learned that if you want to lift a heavy object, you can do it easier if you use a lever, than if you try to lift it yourself.

That is the concept of leveraging, achieving more with the same amount of time and resources at your disposal.

Without leverage, your output will be limited to the number of hours and resources you but in, but with it, you can break the glass ceiling and achieve much more.

Where to start?

Well first you need to identify the resources that are at your disposal including, time, finances, knowledge and technology.

Leveraging Time

Time leverage is the first and most fundamental strategy for success, whether as a business person or as an individual. Since you cannot add the number of hours you have in a day, you need to leverage your time, and other people’s time to achieve extraordinary productivity.

Leveraging your own time will involve eliminating unnecessary activities to enable you to focus on the things that matter, prioritizing activities to achieve the greatest return from your time and setting goals to motivate yourself.

Leveraging other people’s time will involve delegating work effectively, teambuilding through training, and outsourcing non-core business processes.

If done properly, this time leveraging techniques will increase your productivity, but when done poorly (especially delegation) they could be the ruin of a business or even an individual. However, you also need to learn to leverage the other resources available to you.

Leveraging Resources

Resources such as cash, properties, personal strengths, thoughts, ideas, skills and talents, when used in the right combination, can ensure you achieve a lot more with very little effort.

Conduct a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis both for yourself and your employees, to determine what works best in combination with what.

Leveraging knowledge and education will involve determining what need to know, and getting the right skills sets to be the best at what you do.

It will be ineffective for everyone in an organization to have the same knowledge and skills; instead there needs to be a combination of different skills and knowledge to achieve the greatest results.

Another resource you need to leverage for your own personal growth or that of your business is finance. Financial leverage means using other people’s money to grow yourself or to grow your business.

This is a very common and successful business strategy which can be achieved through taking out a loan, issuing shares in the case of a public company, or getting investors to invest in you.
To achieve success of you or your business this resource must be managed wisely, or it could as easily be your downfall.

Considering we are living in a digital world, technology leverage is no longer an option, it is a necessity. A personal home laptop or a PDA could be all you need to maintain a simple, convenient, well backed up time management system.

At more sophisticated levels, technology leveraging will help in performing routine processes hence freeing up your time for more important things.

For a business there is a wide array of software and programs available, to ensure this resource is effectively used to achieve the best results.

Once you have mastered how to leverage time and resources, you will be well on your way to achieving success in any aspect of your life.

How Your Looks Could Save or Destroy Your Day

Marketers know that in the world of business, packaging is important. Aside from its main function of protecting the product, a company uses packaging to attract consumer, promote the item, facilitate purchase decision, and differentiate the product in the market.

It has been proven that the physical appearance of the product affects the purchase decision of the buyer. It if is more presentable, it is likely that the consumer will pick it from the shelf.

Sad to say but the same principle is true to human being. We are like products that we need to sell or ourselves to other people every day.  No, I am not referring to protestation. When you are asking favor or requesting something from somebody, you are putting yourself in a selling situation.

The way you present yourself affects whether other people will response positively or negatively to your request or to the favor you have asked, and your looks has big role in such situation.

According to experts, a person who gets an image makeover reports increased self-esteem and greater trust and respect after changing their looks.

A posts from Forbes, cited that career counselors still advise their clients to dress for the job they want and not the job they currently have.

In some social experiments done by YouTube vlogger, differences are seen on how other people respond to the same person with different looks. People are willing to extend help to the well-dressed guy than the beggar version of the same guy.

So, what can you say about this fact? Have you ever experienced different treatment because of your looks?

4 Clash of Clans Addicts’ Ways to Financial Literacy

Do you receive notifications on your mobile phone like "Your troops are ready for battle!"  or "Your spells are ready to take into battle"?

If yes, you certainly know the terms that I am going to talk about. But if you don't you can first create you COC account and go back on this read this post afterwards.

Here are some importance personal finance lessons your get learn from playing the very hot mobile game, Clash of Clans:

1. Buy and Upgrade Your Resources

In the beginning of the game, you are provided with free gold coin, elixirs, and gems to get started. You are going to use these treasures in building your village.

You are also given free three days shield (your security) to protect your village from being attacked by other players who want to steal your gold, elixirs, and trophies.

Now, using the gold coins and elixirs, you have the options to shop for items like resources, decorations, army, and defenses — the worst items that you should not buy first are decorations, they are apple to the eyes but are useless after all. You most valuable treasures are the gems.

The best you could do is to keep on buying and upgrading your resources while your shield is active because they will continue to provide you with treasures even your are offline or sleeping.

Use the coin and elixirs, do too much quantity in your storage or else they will be stolen when your shield is over.

Personal Finance Lesson: While you are still secure from your job, use your treasure (your income) to buy items that will generate another treasure. In Finance, we call them assets—something that will put cash into your wallet even you when sleep.

Putting all hard-earned income in the bank as savings is also a bad idea— invest it into something that will generate more income.

2. TIME is Your Most Valuable Asset

Almost all actions that you are going to do in the game are time-bounded. You have 30 second to scout other player's village, and 3 minutes to attack it. Time is also applied when building or upgrading your troops and the items in your villages.

However, you are also given an option to speed up your tasks or boost the production by using your available gems.

The wiser the you manage your time, the less gems your will spend while your village develops faster. This makes the old players of the game reach Level 100 and above. Your game level goes higher as you earn more experiences.

Personal Finance Lesson: It is always being taught by financial experts that when it comes to investing, your most valuable asset is time. The early you start your savings and investment, the higher the chances that you can retire at early age.

If you find it necessary to use your gems (your resources) to save time so that your can do other valuable projects then do it. In one day, you can always get more gems but you can never get more time.

3. Don't Be Afraid to Attack and Loose

Yeah, it's sounds funny but I have my friend who are shivering with nervous when attacking his opponent's war base.

Loosing is always a part of the game. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose but all actions you do give you an additional experience. The more you attack, the more you learn, and the higher your chances of winning later on.

When your attack fails then try again next time. After all, even you lose the battle; you can still get some loots for your village.

Personal Finance Lesson: You can never achieve your financial goals unless you get things started. It is normal that we feel embarrassed when we fail but take note that success is a chain of failures.
Instead of focusing on the expenses you've spent and on negative result, focus on the experience you can get on the process and you will see that you have never lose the game.

I hope you enjoy COC as well as this post. Thank you for reading.

7 Things Men Should Do Before 2015

Since 2015 is fast approaching, there are things that you must accomplish to ensure that 2014 is marked as a year of productivity and achievements as a man. After all, it is through achievements that we are able to make even better steps ahead.

It is pretty obvious that men vary in one way or the other. One man’s goal may be totally different from another. However, there are some common things that transpire in the minds of men and must be achieved for them to be rendered successful.

Here are my 6 suggestions that men should do before 2015:

1.  Establish A New Business Territory

It is never a great idea for a man to rely on only one source of income. This is because a misfortune can strike when least expected hence ruining everything that you have. The last thing you want is to be destabilized when your only business territory is ruined or when you are not anymore comfortable in your current job.

To be on the safe side, it will be a great thing to ensure that you open a new business territory before crossing over to 2015. You must know that the economy is not so good in the modern world hence the need to evade financial instability by making one more step ahead.

If you cannot do it immediately, at least you start planning about it before the next new year comes.

2. Face Your Fears

The worst mistake that most men make is to live in the fear of doing particular things simply because they have the mindset of failure. This is something that you must get rid of in 2014. You must gather the boldness to do things that you have always feared to try.

As it is always heard from difference life coaches, you need to step out of your comfort zone. This is one way to gain more experience.

3. Be Insured

While most men consider insurance as a mediocre thing, the fact remains that it is very important and cannot be snubbed.

Your life and investment must be kept safe to avoid any loss should a misfortune strike. If you are already insured, be sure to keep the contract up-to-date to ensure that 2015 is totally safe for you.

If you are an Overseas Filipino Worker, you must at least paying your SSS and PAG-IBIG funds, and don't forget also to include PhilHealth in your list.

4. Go For A Vacation

The festive season cannot be termed so without some form of indulgence and merry making. It is not a good idea to always take life seriously—you need to have fun.

A vacation with your family to an aboard destination will assist in preparing you for the new year ahead.

5. Calculate Your 2014 Profit

Before the year 2015 comes, it is advisable to first identify all the profits made in 2014. It is also good to identify the financial loopholes you underwent in 2014.

That way, you will be able to face the New Year 2015 with a mindset of making your financial condition better and appealing.

6. Set Your New Year Goals

For achievements to be made, there has to be some goals set from the beginning. In this regard, you have to ensure that all your New Year goals are properly outlined and put on paper.

All goals should be achievable and should make your life better. When setting your goals, make sure that they are SMART - Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bounded.

How to Avoid Information Overload that Affects Your Performance

When I was a child, I often heard my mother saying, “Do not eat too much cadies, or else you will have tooth decay.” When I was a teenager, many people say, “Do not eat too much oily foods; they causes pimples.”

"Too much of anything is detrimental,” a popular maxim says. It is true. For this reason, we'll be discussing a few points on how to avoid information overload and why you need to do so.

Whenever your brain receives an excessive amount of information, it decelerates and takes quite a long time to process anything you fed it. Hence, rather than finding solutions and having answers fast, you could possibly turn out confused and even more clueless of the task you had been given.

This leads to low productivity. Your performance could be greatly affected by information overload, so do not take this matter for granted. You may be wasting time which can be allotted for more beneficial things.

What should you do to avoid it? Here are points to remember:

1. Identify your objectives

With your goal clear in mind, set the scope of your works. Create filter questions and match the information you will gather to their answers. This will enable you to work on your tasks one at a time.

2. Get rid of distractions

When you are reading a source article from the internet, close all your social networks apps. Don't answer any instant messages that, you know, are not and will not be related to the work you're at. By doing this, you will be able to absorb and analyze well what you are reading.

When you are reading a book taken from the library or a bookstore, turn off the TV or the radio. Set your phone in silent mode. Read in a quiet place. By eliminating the presence of unnecessary sounds, you help your brain to focus on the visual information you get.

3. Make a schedule

Knowing that you have a task to finish before the allotted time ends will help you stay focused. You will be obliged to remove all distractions and stick with your goal. Remember to prioritize the most important tasks in your schedule.

4. Minimize your sources

If you have read enough information, stop. You don't have to read twenty books or articles, or open twenty tabs to get enough info. Set aside additional topics that are not related to your goal. Research about them some other time, when you're free.

5. Sort your mails

When you receive a lot of snail mails every day, you need to classify them, and have a bin near you so that you can immediate throw those not so important letters.
Delete the unsolicited emails right away. Just like sorting snail mails, create a folder for every important emails that are coming into you inbox.
You can also create another email address which only intended for blogs feeds and newsletter subscription so that, you personal email address will not be flooded with bulk messaged.

6. One subject at a time

Do this once you're done gathering enough information. Do not browse the internet at the same time. Give your brain enough time to correlate all the ideas and provide you with satisfactory results. Our brain is like a computer, the more tasks run, and the slower it performs.

I look forward that these tips could help you to avoid information overload.

A Complimentary Copy of Marketing Management Book

According to the Internet Scam Staistcs, internet scam complaints rose from 100,000 per year to nearly 300,000 per year from 2005 to 2009.  The monetary loss of scam complaints easily exceeds $300 million per year, and men report 25% higher monetary losses related to internet spam than females.

Last October 2012, I was contacted be the Acting Senior Editor for Regional Publishing of Pearson Education South Asia for a permission to use one of the photos of a Double A display in a tertiary textbook, Marketing Management: An Asian Perspective 6th Edition, which is published by Person Education South Asia Pte Ltd.

I did not take the request so serious because spam and scam in the internet seem to be normal (since it is easy to pick any reliable name from the web and use the identity for a dark motive), but for the benefit of the doubt, I replied to the request as how I replied to other inquiries from my blog like interviews, guest posting details and tips.

Thinking that I have nothing to loss because it was only a piece of digital image anyway, I have given what the person been asking, I sent the high resolution images and a formal permission to use photo accordingly. Then I was asked if I want a complimentary copy of the published book. I said, Yes.
I did not expect much that it was true, but TNT has successfully delivered the complimentary copy book to me last week. ^_^

I was and am very happy to have the copy and I like the book.

My gratitude to Person Education South Asia Pte Ltd especially to the Project Editor, Chelsea Che for sending a copy of the book. More power to you.
